fitness for life!
I have always been active, playing softball and tennis in grade school. But my "real" fitness journey started my freshman year while I was at Stephen F. Austin State University. After gaining the typical “freshman 15”, I got a summer job at Gold’s Gym and began working out and making healthier food choices. I immediately saw the results and was hooked! My next year at school I declared my major in Kinesiology and was well on my way to receiving a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology as well as a double minor in Nutrition and Health Science. Also while in school, I got my Group Exercise Leadership certification and Physical Fitness Specialist certification from The Cooper Institute in Dallas, TX so I could start teaching aerobics and personal training part-time.
After graduating, I was accepted into the Internship Program at the The Cooper Aerobics Center in Dallas where I received two additional certifications, Master Fitness Specialist and Biomechanics of Strength Training.
I have always been an advocate for health and fitness, but up until my dad’s diagnosis of heart disease and my cousin’s diagnosis for colon cancer, I have made it my mission to educate everyone I know about the importance of proper exercise, diet and regular doctor check-ups.
For years, I have had an interest in fitness competitions, but never thought I could do it and didn't know how to get started in the industry. That was until I met IFBB Fitness Pro, Susan Groshek in 2008. She gave me support and helped me transform my physique with the proper nutrition and training. Now, with 5 competitions under my belt, I'm a national level figure competitor!
